This pattern displays the chahar Muhammad (four Muhammad) square kufic motif. The name Muhammad repeats four times around a central square and its negative space reveals ‘Ali, also repeated four times. The negative space’s polychrome marble mosaic features tiny geometric elements in red and white. The entire panel is framed by a repeated S-shape that alternates with its mirror image.
